Firewall foam

Cleaning up some wires, etc. and the foam "blocks" behind the shock towers is just crumbling. Can't figure out where it is in PP catalog, or maybe it's NLA. What does everyone else use?

Search for 'engine sound pad' and you'll see a few options.

Not the sound pad. Square "blocks" that stuff where the wire harness passes to the bottom.

The foam blocks are 911.504.930.00

They look to be available still for $23.50 each. I'm sure that someone must have found a good substitute...

If you need only the original type part, I can't help you.

However, dense foam that is used to cushion vibration and noise (such as the material sold to isolate window air-conditioners) is not expensive, and it can be cut to suit the shape of the gap/hole you are trying to fill.

I used this material in my car.

note: Food for thought, any kind of foam regardless of density is a fire hazard that is easily ignited; think carefully before using it in different applications especially around electrical wiring and components regardless of voltage

^^ Good thought, but was the original foam Porsche used fireproof?

I removed the foam blocks over 5 years ago and never replaced them. I've never had an issue without having them in place.

The foam blocks are there to help prevent hot air and dirt, from beneath the car, from entering the engine bay via the engine fan - it is a good idea to have them, or a suitable substitute, in place.
