76 wiring questions

I'm installing the wiring on my backdate, a 76. I've got questions concerning several wires I can't seem to figure out. I took many photos while disassembling, but I can't seem to find any references to these. To begin, I've removed the driver's power mirror, and I've removed the washer pump. The car does not have a/c or cruise control. I've done several searches already this morning, and have found what I think are solutions to the first two:

1. Connections to the wiper motor/capacitor under dash, near speaker hole, and is detailed in this thread Mystery electrical component and wires -74 911. I've connected the black wire from the capacitor to the double terminal shared with the red wire on the wiper motor. If this is wrong, I hope someone could let me know. I think the double wire (brown) connection shown in this photo should attach to the extra terminal on the side of the wiper motor. This terminal is just attached to the motor housing, and is probably a ground. In the photos I took while disassembly, I can see the terminal, and the double brown wire in the background, but they were not attached. I think they probably came disconnected when I pulled the motor from under the dash, and before I could take the photo

The next wire question(s)

white/green wire (with double terminal). I've read in this thread: wiring question 70 t/ front lid seal that this wire could be for the rear fog light/lamp. I've got a copy of the wiring diagram from the shop manual, but I think there are some pages missing. I tried to trace this last night and couldn't figure it out.

white/green wire:

Shown in this photo is also a short blue wire coming from the connection for the vent fan. I can't figure this wire out either.

This last connection (at the moment) is on the driver's side, near the brake fluid reservoir. I think I may have figured this out, but I have yet to go down and check it. I'll do that here in a moment. photo is rotated again, sorry

Any help with these is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

~Chris

If you tell me where to point the camera I can take photos of my working model. This is in the front luggage compartment?

hey targalid

that is a very kind offer. Unfortunately, in order to see what I'm wondering about, you'd have to remove the front ventilation fan under the cowling.

If youf\r car has the intermittent wiper control (little knob between the speedo & the clock, that controls the wiper speed) maybe you could pop out your clock and snap a few down there in that hole.

Thanks again for the offer.

Clock hasn't worked since I got it! I'll give it a shot in the AM when it is light.

Blue wire is for the optional Wabasto heater, 92 in the diagram.

I still believe the White/Green is for optional rear fog light, 93 on diagram. Only other White/Green is for front fog lights and parking light indicator on speedometer.

Main power for the wipers is Red/White to Capacitor first, then the Black lead from capacitor to motor contact 53a. The diagrams don't show this clearly. Here is a thread if you have intermittant wipers, I don't have time today to check the later car diagrams, maybe later after family heads home.
Resistor (?) on wiper motor wiring

E-Sully:

thanks for the info. the red/white is going to the capacitor, then the black to the red on the wiper motor. So I think I'm good there. And your info has helped with the blue wire, and the white/green, I guess is for the optional lighting.

What about the brown/double brown connector. It does seem like it would be connected to the frame ground terminal on the wiper motor.

I found this diagram that should be for your year. The diagrams typically don't show the capacitor, which would be inline with the Red/White to terminal 53a. The browns show connection to the motor.

I have spent countless hours searching. It's all out there if you put some time into it. Pelican has some diagrams Pelican Parts - Porsche 911 Parts Listings & Diagrams , many have been posted on this and other Forums, PorscheWiringDiagrams
It just seems most prefer to ask instead of seek.
I also understand not everyone has the background or time and need a bit of help. Many have helped me without knowing it by posting their experience so that I could find and use it without having to post the question.
