600 Mile Weekend
I drove about 600 miles this weekend from Mpls to Bayfield, WI and back. This is my first long distance cruise in the 911. It ran great - but I have a couple questions for the experts:
- It seems to get blown around on the freeway by the wind - is this normal? - My single remaining oil leak was a drip at the very rear of the engine, perhaps the rear crankshaft seal. After the 600 mile trip it seems to have healed itself! Am I dreaming, or has this happened to anyone else? - My oil temp runs about 180-190, when it was very hot on Sunday it climbed to 190-200. This seems lower than what others have been posting, is my guage optimistic? I have a stock 2.7 with the trombone cooler, 11-blade fan, no reactors. - A mix of 1/4 around-town and 3/4 highway driving (75 mph) gave me 22-23 mpg. Is this comparable to what others are seeing?

Front and rear spoilers will definitely help there. - My single remaining oil leak was a drip at the very rear of the engine, perhaps the rear crankshaft seal. Sometimes the seals get a "set" to them that a long drive can remove. Don't be surprised if the leak shows up again later. - My oil temp runs about 180-190, when it was very hot on Sunday it climbed to 190-200. Sounds normal for highway driving and city driving with no traffic jams. - A mix of 1/4 around-town and 3/4 highway driving (75 mph) gave me 22-23 mpg. Is this comparable to what others are seeing? My '86 Carrera gets around 25-26 on the highway. Around 22-23 in town.

I have the front lip and rear tail - still got blown around pretty good, even in modest wind.
