Gear Shift Knob replacements (pics)

I was thinking of updating my gear shift knob and was curious as to what everyone had found to be a nice replacement over the stock knob and who has the best price.

Pelican has quite a number of choices.

89 Carrera Coupe.

Post a picture if you have one.

Thanks

When I was looking for a new shift lever, I looked for a longer knob than stock to shorten the long reach to the lever. I bought the Sparco fake carbon fiber one.

I installed a factory short shift kit, new shift couple bushings, and clean swepco at the same time and have been smiling ever since.
The longer knob reall helps the reach into fifth.

I thought our choices for replacement knobs were limited by the G50 attachment. I think a lot of the Momos are only useable up to '86.
The 915 uses a crush sleeve, but the G50 type has a bolt that tightens from the top...?

I don't have a photo of it yet, but my G50 has the Momo aluminum ball shifter knob. I love it - simple, to the point and accents the other aluminum trim.

Dan,
The G50 knob is removed via the top bolt after popping off the plastic insert on the top of the knob; the after mkt knobs like Momo have pointed 3 hex screws that attach to the shaft from the side of the new knob making them compatible with the 87-89.
Be aware however that these screws put sharp "dimples" in the shaft that are impossible to remove and are feelable if you decide to go back to stock.

Momo "Super Anatomic" in leather here. I've used it, along with Momo's "Monte Carlo" wheel, on two previous 911's as well. Great combo.

Go with the balsa wood 917 knob. Very cool. Do a search.

This is a Voodoo shift knob that I originally had in my Miata. To make it fit my 87 Carrera, I purchased a bolt that fit the knob, and hand machined the other end to fit the threads on the G50 shifter (I used a file and a tap and die set -- took me about a half hour for that part). I really like the way this knob feels in my hand. The e-brake handle is a matching piece, and the knob comes in a variety of finishes.

Same one you were looking for. Excellent condition example. No scratches, scuffs or flaws.
