Porsche Crest funny thing happened last night...

I was out last night driving back from running errands, and was cruising around 50 mph through a particularly fun part of the drive home (big down/up hill) when I noticed the unmistakable profile of a 911 stopped with hazards flashing on the other side of the road. I quickly spun around at the next light to give whoever it was a hand, and as I pulled up I realized this wasn't just a 911, but a silver early 911 coupe! It turned out the owner had just ran out of gas, and already had a friend bringing some, but we chatted 911s for 20 minutes on the side of the road. It was a nice 73 911T he has owned for 13 years.

Now that's not something that happens every day!
Makes me feel good to own a 911, the guy was grinning when I pulled up to him to offer help.

That is a cool story.

My husband and I are amazed how many strangers (porsche and non-porsche owners) just come right up to us and start talking cars. A few weekends ago we had a guy run out of a restaurant and wait for us to park. He also owned a 930 (that we saw parked 1/2 a block away). He said he just had to talk to us. We gabbed about 20 mintutes before he headed back in to be with his friends, and we headed into the restaurant we were going to.

Made us laugh & smile...there are still a lot of cool people out there in this crazy world of ours!!

I think every time I drive that car, I get comments about "nice car" "what year" or a fellow P-car owner who just wants to chat cars.

Then again, when I see one, if the owner is around I am walking up to see his car, what he has done to it etc.

Its also like the blink! How many other car types flash the high beams when passing another P Car regardles of year or model!

They need to tell the new P car owners.....they usually are the ones giving me a sort of confused look when I flash the high beams and give a little wave.

Its a cool club! ;-)

PDACPA - That is so funny that you added that about the "flash the beam" greeting. I'm always looking for other porsches to do that to, but usually do not see any. The other day I was in the Explorer and this newer model porsche turned a corner and was right in front of me. I flashed my headlights and smiled at him...he just stares at me like....what??? I just laughed and kept going.

I even stopped once to help a disabled Boxster. Yeah, I was feeling really generous that day to be helping a water pumper. But I couldn't do much for him, as his jack had collapsed and the rotor was flush against the pavement. Not much a 911 OEM jack can do for that. But he was a nice guy and said he was looking into getting a 911 - yeah right. I think AAA took care of him after we chatted for about 20 minutes.

Sarah

I usually only do it when in the 911 as I figure they think I am warning of a cop up the road. I usually only get the flash back or wave from older P cars

Boxsters have no clue LOL

Jeff, your making me feel bad, again.

A couple years ago while on vacation in Oregon. We were driving over Mt. Hood and saw a 911 on the side of the road, with the engine lid up. I didn't stop. I've felt bad ever since.

I can't help but think, it could have been one of us. Or something simple that another set of eyes and ears could have helped find.

I know...I probably confused the guy anyway being in the Explorer and not in the porsche...he probably thought I was doing the "You did something wrong" flash your beams at them thing.

I have the same problem when I'm in my daily driver. This only encourages me to drive the 911 more. I am not complaining!
