What can someone tell me about this engine (1965)?...serial number picture attached

Supposedly from a '65 (NOTE: car was scrapped years ago...I do not have the car and it was crushed years ago).

Engine was upgraded to 2.2L. Weber carbs. Use as is or is its value such that it should be sold and I should get another engine with more power for less $$?

You should post the case numbers. I'm sure Grady or someone else with lots of knowledge will respond.

If the engine type number is 901/01 or 901/05, it is probably more valuable to someone else.

65 serial numbers are from 900361 to 903550 and engine type code should be 901/01 so your #901561 falls right in there.

Thank you, Mark. What I am struggling with is do I keep this motor (in a 914) or sell it to someone with an early car? I know that with the prices of early cars going out the roof, I won't be able to afford an early car. But, I would hate to think there is an early car needing a correct motor when a newer (less rare and less expensive motor) would suit my needs just fine. Guess I'll have some thinking to do!
