77 911S....clutch won't dis-engage!?!
2.7L, 915 trans. was up on blocks for 8 months installing suspension parts and misc. items. Prior to repairs car performed fine but was not driven more than 20 miles. After repairs the clutch will not dis-engage. The Haynes does reference a frozen clutch disk as a cause (due to rust). Has anyone heard of the disk freezing up between the pressure plate and the flywheel? It could be stuck to one of the two.
My thoughts are to put the car back up in the air, remove rear wheels, start the engine in gear and pump the brakes with the clutch peddle in. Any comments on this??? My garage has limited space for a rolling version and I have already come close to going thru the wall!!! This car was a garage sleeper but performed well before placed on blocks. The only repairs in this area performed were coupler bushings renewed and re-adjustment of the park brake cables. My clutch release lever is moving but I have yet to measure the total travel. It appears to be okay. Your thoughts and comments....please. Thanks in advance. |

There was another thread with a frozen clutch just recently, less than 2 weeks ago:
