plugs for 83 SC euro

Could anyone tell me which are the proper plugs for an 83 SC euro motor. Plug gap?
Thanks

According to the German NGK site the Euro 83 SC takes a B9EVX @ 0,8 gap.
http://www.ngkntk.de/pages/gb/ngk/index.html

to compare I looked at the US site to see if they were the same and..

The US NGK site shows BP7ES @ .028 gap. (For a US car)

Perhaps someone can verify the results from the German site.

I use the BP7ES plugs in my 2.7 with that same gap. I believe these are also correct for the SC.

The BP7ES seem to be for a US Spec SC.

The B9EVX appears to be for a Euro (at least German) SC.

I have an Email into NGK. Hopefully they'll verify.

I use Bosch W3CC in mine, although people say the NGK's are better.

Cheers,

My engine is a "Euro" also, and the BP7ES plugs work great. I think they work fine in the SCs, too.

Mike the 2.7 and 3.0 are two totally different engines. I'd feel more comfortable "knowing" they work great instead of "thinking" they work great.

They're not that different, really, in the big scheme of things. Suit yourself, though. It's your engine.

Small clarification - NGK recommends a BP7ES for a US 3.0 SC engine (1983) - I don't think the *Euro* engine was that different....

If your asking me to quantitatively list all the differences between a 1983 Euro SC engine and it's US counterpart - there are lots of resources out there that I'm sure you can consult. I think the point, though, is that *from the standpoint of which NGK plug you use in them* the differences are probably not too terribly relevant. If you have some evidence that a BP7ES plug is harmful for use in a 1983 Euro SC engine, then let me know.

That's what I figured your answer would be.

Don't use the 7 plug in the '83 Euro motor. It has 9.8:1 compression and should use a colder plug than the US motor. NGK's get colder as the number increases, so use the B9 plug. Otherwise you'll be asking for detonation.

Dear Rick,

Thank you for your interest in our products.
You are absolutely right, the recommendation for the Porsche 911 SC modelyear 1983 is the NGK platinum type B9EVX, gap 0.8 mm.

kind regards

My 83 SC ROW had detonation problems. Putting in the B9EVX plugs was the solution. Thank you!!!

I spent way too many hours on the proper plug for the 930/10. NGK seems to be the way to go since the Bosch plugs are from India or Brazil and the German workmanship is not there anymore IMHO. Some of the US 930/10 crowd are using the BPR8ES(radio resistor) which is a tad hotter in number than the 9 but still a standard projected tip plug. Non-projected tip plugs I have tried do not run well "plug & play" with CIS motors. NGK(made in Japan) plugs have a lot more granularity available than Bosch in heat range so going from 8 to 9 heat with the seasons may not be out of bounds. My W5Ds look OK but I am at almost sea level and the low 90s is a really hot day. I have steep Euro gears and do not FOT all of the time. Got some BPR8ES coming this week to test out.

John, a guy I know put NGK BPR8ES in my 930-10, cool enough obviously as my car is running cool in 110 degree heat. I range cooler rather than the 2.
That same guy told me that lots of the Bosch plugs for older P cars are made in Brazil with crappy quality just like the fine (expletive deleted) Brazilian coils.....

I have found that the Euro SC's run best with the BPR8ES plugs in my region. We also have 93 octane fuel here too. I have been known to run 100 octane in mine.

I run a proven Octane boost in mine too as we can only get 91 in Az.

Non-Projected tip?

Did you have to re-tune for the non-projected B9EVX plugs? I had 2 different 9.8 motors that did not plug & play with the W3CC & WR4CC(MFI) non-projected Bosch plugs. Idle RPM dropped & misfires. The tip change altered the flame travel or something in the motor and mine was not happy.
