CV Boots trashed
I purchased new axles (complete) two years ago and already the CV boots are trashed.
Three of the 4 are split badly. The boots are cheap but I don't want to change them every two years  Any suggestions? All Pelican parts. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1370796356.jpg |
Talk to Pelican maybe they have had some similar problems and they can help you out?

Might be the dry desert heat, I spray mine with Aerospace 303 now and then

GKN's?

They don't actually have GKN written on them. Normally an OEM part would be of sound quality but stuff happens. For a replacement boot kit the other choice is Empi, whoever that is. Anyone have experience with these? |
Its a wide shot, but is it possible that your suspension is a fair bit out of stock spec? I had a relatively new (17K) boot get a rip at the same time as the suspension on that wheel got out of wack.

I had one of these rip after 2 years ( maybe 10-12k miles) can't rule out that something hit it, but i don't think so.
Guess they don't make rubber like they used to. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1370830417.jpg |
mine are 5 years old with 20K on them - and the boots are cracked, almost every crease. how long do/should they last?
|
they should last a lot longer than that
my bet is that the "rubber" uses Chinese drywall as a filler; VW parts are often crap like this the German parts companies are getting things made in Brazil, Mexico, and China and then slapping their name on the box |
