Introduction
 

Hello--

Since I have been lurking around, seems appropriate to make an introduction. I recently became the owner of a 1983 911 SC. This is a special car to me and somewhat bitter sweet that it now sits in my driveway. The car was purchased by my father in Knoxville, TN in 1983. He never particularly enjoyed driving it, thus the car has just over 8900 original miles. I think I put half of those miles on the car. Seems like every oil change he let me take it to was at least a 250 mile round trip. My dad's health has been recently challenged, so he decided to let me take it. The car is not perfect but pretty close.

I'm learning a lot on this site (read: spend too much time reading posts) and updating the car with some needed modifications.

There are a few issues to address, valve seals leaking, dash has pulled away from the center vent and the AC is inoperative (R12 is too expensive anyway). I'm guessing the only repair for the separation around the vent is to replace the dash.

This car brings a smile every time and takes me back to the day he brought it home.

I plan on doing one thing with the car that he did not....enjoy driving it. Thanks for all the great information.
