Need help getting passenger side under dash air ducts back together on my SC

I really need some help figuring this out. I'm down to a handful of things that are standing in the way of getting my interior restoration project completed and I'm ready to get done. It's been so long since I took it apart I can't remember how it goes back together.

The basic problem is I have more gozinees than I have gozoutees. I am missing something stupid, I know. The diagram in the PET is useless.

Starting under the center of the dash there is a duct to the right (pass side) of the bowtie vent. I seem to remember that it goes over to the ride side by the door, but I can't figure out where or what it ties into.

Over by the door, there are 3 plastic tubes for the flexible ducts to connect w/ hose clamps - 1 on the back of the air vent and 2 others. There is also a plastic Y connector (3 connections, right?). I can try to mirror the way the hoses connect on the driver side, but the problem is I have 1 extra hose in that goes nowhere left over.

I really need a pic of this but can't find one. The ducts are normally covered by the carpet, so if someone happened to snap a good pic when they were doing this job, I would really appreciate it.

You can't buy happiness, but you can buy car parts which is kind of the same thing.

Do these pics help? The puke stain in the 2nd photo is carpet glue under the glove box.

Almost! Can you tell if the other end of the long hose in the first pic connects to the Y connector?

See if this helps. These are all 1.5" ducts by the way.

I believe this much is correct. The hose comes from the left, fastens under the glovebox and then connects to the Y connector I'm holding in my hand.

I think the Y connector branches off to the back of the dash air vent. Here's a pic of that.

At this point, 2 of the 3 Y's are connected to something, right?

I think the 3rd Y connects to the big plastic duct in the center of this picture. At least that's what I think based on staring at the PET.

But look at the top left corner of the above picture. Near where the glue is on the bottom of the glovebox. There is another duct and I have no idea what it connects to!

That's why I say I have more gozinees than I have gozoutees.

Off to the parts store to get some other miscellaneous stuff I need to get done.

Heck yea! Thanks!!!!

Now... One last question.

Is there a pipe right behind that duct that is just open with nothing connected?

If the answer is yes then my mystery has just been solved!

I have no idea. Frankly, I haven't gotten around to learning the HVAC system yet. That is next on the list. My A/C is non-functional so I'll be looking at Griffiths or Rennaire or Retroaire later.

I can't believe I've been beating my head against a wall over this.

Bob, if you can confirm on yours I think we can close the case on this one.

Oh and thanks for the responses guys... HUGE help!

I am so close to getting her back on the road! Hopefully will be able to make it to Caffeine & Octane on Sunday if I can get my arse in gear, no unexpected distractions come my way and the weather holds. I feel like I'm on one of those project shows on TV with a deadline for "the big reveal".

Confirmed open duct in post 12 - I think you saw that but just clarifying to make sure.

The webasto heater is rare and the tubs were still made to allow install - hence the duct. May be wrong but we have three guys with three open ducts so put her to bed regardless.

Bob,

Thanks for the confirmation. Now I can move on to a bunch of other things that need to get done.

Never heard of the webasto heater. I'll have to look that one up later.

Thanks again!

I did just steal this pic from a recent post. Look at the fresh air coming from the corners where that open vent is.

May just be a fresh air duct. I guess it could be confirmed with a helper and compressed air - or just a ride at some speed.

Hey, Bob!

Great minds think alike! I saved the same picture from whatever thread that was on.

I'll share a tip with y'all. I find a lot of great info on the forum, but sometimes I have a hard time finding it when I need it later. So I started using Evernote on my iPad and my laptop to save useful stuff into categories. I keep the iPad with me in the garage when I'm working so I can pull up relevant info. I have the PET and PDFs of various manuals. Wish I had Wayne's books and the Bentley on there too.

One of the things I wish we could do on here is to have a community-editable wiki for stuff like troubleshooting procedures. Then we wouldn't waste time answering the same things over and over. And all of the info would be in one place instead of scattered around.

And then I wouldn't need to maintain my Evernote system.

The hose size

What are the sizes of the cardboard hose use for all the air ducts? Can they be purchased in large lengths so i can cut them to size?
