'80 SC, need picture of CDI box wiring

Since I have the engine out of my '80 SC and the engine wiring harness lies on the bench unwrapped, I want to restore the connections to the CDI box that have been badly hacked from a PO MSD installation (I have switched back to the Bosch 6 pin unit).
I have the ignition running with the Bosch unit, so there is no problem in understanding the hook up, electrical schematics, etc.

I'm looking for pictures that show hoe the harness to the CDI box looks in its original condition. Is it a separate harness or part of the engine harness?

Thank you, Manfred

there is a plug that goes into the CDI unit, i guess the PO cut that off, bummer

I have the connector assembly you need as well as the pin out for it.
And a new rubber boot.
I could even rebuild it for you if you wanted.
PM or email me for details.
Search the used parts forum for " harnesses"

Hopefully the PO didn't hack up the coax wire to the distributor.

If you need the green wire (coax) that runs from the distributor to the CDI, I have one available. It is the complete wire with factory connectors on both ends. I am changing my 1980 SC over to use an XDi direct fire system and just removed the original ignition system from the car.

CDI wiring info

See if this will help........

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1370976448.jpg

I believe that:

1 is black
2 is brown
3 is the signal ground (shield) wire
4 is red
5 is red/white
6 is the signal (center) wire

The other info will be useful if/when you decide to change out to an MSD box.
In this case, it was a MSD6A unit.

he has the wiring done, just need a pic of the 6-pin plug

Manfred,
I can post up some pictures of what your harness should look like later tonight. The CDI portion ties into the main engine harness within 3 inches of the 14 pin plug if that helps for putting the harness back together correctly.
( just remembered we have communicated before and you are in Germany, can't see your location on my iPhone)
Or PM me with your email address and ill send them directly to you. :)

Here ya go as promised... Hope it helps :)

First 2 are of the CDI connector:

This is the orientation of the CDI harness showing where it ties into the main engine harness. (upside down is written split where I unwrapped it for you)
The CDI conector is on lower left, shows as white from the flash!...
The other wires (Red) coming out at the same split point are to the cold start switch.

Thank you all for your help to solve my harness problem. I think I have enough information now to resore it as it should look like. Special thanks to Dennis for going the extra mile with the pictures. This is a great forum with even greater people! My 911 would not be where it is now without the great knwoledge and help.

Hi Manfred,
If you need more pictures of the entire harness PM me.
I build harnesses for those that cannot or choose not to do it themselves.
Sharing the information I have from doing the work is what this forum is all about! :)

Dennis,

thank you for offering more help. That's generous and I appreciate it. If I come to a point where I need more pictures I will let you know.
