3.2 install- DME cable routing

Hello I am getting close to the end of my 3.2 into a '76 project. For the DME cable, I drilled a hole in the back of the rear seat footwell on the driver side. The cable comes through in the middle of the footwell right at floor level The dme is under the driver seat, and there is a bit of extra cable. . How do you merge the obvious presence of the cable into the interior- if you just put the carpet over it-it will look tacky. What have other conversions done? Thanks in advance!

When I removed the dme from my 84 to upgrade to a 3.6, the hole is to the left of the foot well making it easy to route along the base of the driver side sill.

Here are a couple of shots of the DME and cables. I was thinking that I would fit some 2x6 boards on either side and just put the carpet over that.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1370995376.jpg

Is it too late to re-position the DME from 6 o'clock to the 9 o'clock position?
That might give you a straighter cable run.

Or run cable along sill or tunnel, see where it lands and re-pos the dme there.

I agree with Dan if that is a possibility for you. On my conversion, not only is the motronic up at the 11 oclock position (basically in the upper left corner of your bracket, but it is also rotated so that the plug is on the front edge (toward the nose of the car). The wiring lays perfectly against the floor/sill seam. It looks totally factory.

good idea

Thanks guys- I did rotate the DME to the 9 oclock position, and it is much cleaner! Here are some photos.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1371075034.jpg

Here's another tip.

Instead of hard mounting the DME to the floor get some rubber isolators to keep vibration out of the electronics.
