step by step Manual boost controller instructions please??!!
Is there a website or resource that I can look up to find out step by step instructions to install a Manual boost controller? Can I just use some generic manual boost controller??? I'd rather not remove the GReddy Profec B electronic boost controller from my VR4, but am curious if it would work on my Porsche 930 as well?
I'm leaning toward a manual boost controller that utilizes a bleeder valve and simply tap into a boost/vacuum line......is that wise with our Porsche cars?? and is there a website with step by step instructions for this procedure. Thanks in advance.......and I apologize if this is a silly question. |
Bleed orifice works nice, just make sure you install small filter so it doesn't suck in dirt when you are off boost.
Just fit a small T-hose... |
check out www.turbosmart.com.au - they have manual controllers and instructions for plumbing them in etc.

I wouldn't use a manual boost controller (aka bleed valve). You will get some serious turbo lag because the turbo will take longer to get up to full boost. I used one for a day, before I took it right off. The valve will start bleeding wastegate control pressure before reaching full boost. I never used a GReddy electronic boost controller before, but if it is similar to a HKS electronic boost controller I have, it will be your better bet. Your wastegate will remain closed right up until your turbo reaches the predialed boost limit before it starts to modulate boost pressure. That way, you turbo will spool up at it full potential, giving you much more instantaneous boost response.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I have the K-27 turbo and I'm running at .8 bar
The previous owner stated that I can manually turn the wastegate actuator to the turbo clockwise or counterclockwise to manually set the boost for higher or lower settings. But unfortunately that means I have to get out of the car and get underneath and wait for the turbo to cool off and then make adjustments. I would rather be able to control it from the driver's seat. I'm leaning toward a manual boost controller for now. Any step by step intructions that I can look up? |
if you can trust yourself, in the heat of passion, not to crank up the boost to 1.5, when you're next to that vette at the stop light, then the inside the cab position is good. most folks put it in the engine compartment for easy enough access.
