G50 pedal cluster part question
Went through several threads and can't find this issue addressed, nor can I find a diagram that shows the part I'm trying to figure out. On my 88 G50 at the right (inside tunnel) of the clutch pedal cross shaft, (touching part 12 on page 301-17 in Bentley) there is a part that touches the end of the shaft clutch cross shaft inner end (part name). I can't really see it directly but it seems to be some sort of metal part connected to some sort of switch. It also seems to make a slight squeak when I activate the clutch pedal. Does anyone know what this is?
OK....update, got my fathead down in there where I could see it a little better. It LOOKS like there is a little arm connected to some sort of switch that is activated by the end cap shaft which is a sort of small "paddle". It appears to be activated when the clutch is depressed. Mine was bent out of shape and just jammed against the end of the shaft so whatever the switch was switching was not happening.
OK....update to the update...I think it's related to the cruise control...supposed to turn off the cruise when clutch depressed. No wonder this scared the crap out of me several years ago on the highway when I had the cruise on and depressed the clutch...only to have the engine redline, with me frantically pushing the lever and brakes to turn it off. After I changed my shorts I swore I'd never use the cruise again...and I haven't.
