oil leak on my 75 2.7s 911 engine

ive got a leak on my engine on the oil cooler side, it seems to drip onto the heat exchanger. i overfilled the engine as well (didn't know u had to have the engine running when u check the level!) but i removed some when i found out.

any ideas?

Take off the air filter cover and air filter and look for oil or an oil film in the bottom of the air box. Over filling can send oil into the airbox and then out through a drain (rubber duckbill valve) on the passenger side located on the engine front sheet metal (tin) just back of the starter. This oil can blow back and get on the heat exchangers. You could also have a leaking engine mounted thermostat (o-ring), engine mounted oil cooler seals (there are three), a leaking oil pressure switch or a leaking breather hose (especially if you've overfilled with oil). If you overfilled by a lot you should consider draining some from the oil tank. I own a '76 911S. Cheers, Jim
