87 coupe value..
What do you guys think the value is for an '87 coupe with 90k? Very well maintained, thorough PPI completed, needs tires. Drives great, stainless steel Dansk, shifts well. No leaks. Thorough maintenance history.
I've seen a lot of guys comment on prices, but it seems to me unless you've truly been shopping, the prices I see here are mostly lower than reality, or I'm a lousy shopper. Thanks Nick |

Probably high 20s given the season. Maybe mid 20s in the fall.

Maybe high 20s, but who knows? Start adding up cosmetic flaws and miles, and the price drops. Even for a G50 car. Probably not below $20k, though. |

Nick, there's too much of a scale to answer one way, but the various factors, season, region of the country, history, mileage, original condition or desired modifications all factor in. But price and value are two completely different things.
In general though, I've seen prices for 3.2s especially the G50 variants continue to creep up and up, where a good example today is in the high 20's or low 30's and those prices are up maybe 15 to 20% from just five year ago. IMO, if you're comfortable with the asking price and the car is what you're looking for that adds a lot of "value" to it. A couple of thousand one way or another is insignificant over the life of the car if you're getting joy out of driving it. |

Nick:
Many 3.2s need top end overhauls at 90k due to excessive oil consumption -- an educated buyer would be very interested in a) whether the car has had a top end overhaul, and if not, b) oil consumption/leakdown test reasults. If valve guide issues are present (less than 1k per quart of oil or bad leakdown results), you might want to price accordingly |

If you really want it? High twenties, but when you want to sell low twenties. Sounds like a solid car...to be in upper twenties should have fresh interior, original paint, few flaws. Also at 90K miles a top end rebuild may be on the horizon...many have had this by 130K. Welcome to the forum by the way...you will find that the mantra here is that all 911s are 20K cars. Some you pay up front, others you put the money in after the purchase. So upper twenties should need very little investment after your purchase.

Very GOOD you guys. Thanks for the valuable info.
The price I'm looking at is therefore reasonable, and I will keep you posted on the progress of the sale...and hopefully pix. I'm jonesin' for the air cooled 3.2! And then the mods....my God, the mods! Let me just say this...buying these cars (good ones) is not easy! But this forum is incredibly helpful. Thanks again. Nick |
