After two months of SC ownership, today I decided to check the oil level. So I made sure that the engine was hot, unscrewed the oil cap, pulled the dipstick, cleaned it with a cloth and put the dipstick back in the oil tube ... I really mean IN the oil tube, not in the small tube that holds the dipstick.

I look down the tube and I can see the dipstick head some 8 inches down the tube, so I do not panic, open the smuggler's box, get the tool kit, pick up a screwdriver and try to get the dipstick ... and down goes the screwdriver http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/...s/a_frusty.gif http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/...s/a_frusty.gif

So I do not panic again, and manage to burn my fingers and get the screwdriver out. Then I go back to the toolkit, pick up an allen key and fish out the dipstick.

Do you think that the engine can run with a dipstick and a screwdriver in the oil circuit?

It's been said that if you crack open the 911 oiltank, the number of dipsticks you find is equal to the number of previous owners.

There's an item I came across at harbor freight that looks like a good dipstik extraction tool. It's just like that thing you use to get the last olive out of the jar, but 18" long and flexible... for a buck and and a half. I bought two.

I bought the long claw grabber tool this past weekend after I dropped my new oil temp sensor down below my fan pulley. That was a lot of fun. A dipstick in your oil tank should not cause a problem. It's very common.

My first mistake was leaving the gas cap at on top of the pump. Came back about 10 minutes later (smelt gas while driving) and it was gone. Drove for about 2 weeks without it until one arrived from Pelican.

I fished the one I dropped down (along with 2 others) out of the oil tank drain hole!
