What is the proper CO level for 78SC for smog and performance?

I picked up a Gastester, finally. The car is due for a smog check and I need to set the CO level. What is the CO level for smog in California for a 78? Also, what should the CO level be for performance in a 78SC without the air pump hooked up?

The manual says 3.5%. But is that at load or idle? I thought I recalled something in a past thread but couldn't find it. This is the model without the O2 sensor.

Thanks in advance.

Wouldn't you know, I just posted this info:

air smog pump performance .

Thanks. So is the max setting for CO(%) @ 3.27?

Yeah.

I had that thread typed out all pretty in courier font and it ended up looking like it does.

In Texas the max CO% is 3.27 at 25 mph and 2.37 at 15 mph.

Hum...looks like a made a typo on the 15 mph standard.

Notice how the smog pump took my emmissions from 3.7 to 0.8 at 25 mph and 2.7 to 1.3 at 15 mph?

Say...does the smog pump just dilute the emmissions or does it help the catalyst convert the VOCs?
