1889 Lohner Porsche Hybrid

Came across this article on 3 cars ahead of its time. 1 in particular 1889 Porsche Hybrid. Here is a link I would like to share with the rest of you from porsche website.

I love this car. What a true inventor Ferdinand was! From what I read, this vehicle was said to be too fast for its time. The 22 mph top speed scared people.

Check out his land train:





I believe he won some design award for it. It would go anywhere, as each wheel of each vehicle was powered by a cable from the front tractor. Diesel engine coupled to a generator, 50 years before the railroads did it.

Only trouble was it was so slow the Allies would simply strafe them or drop grenades on them. They didn't predict the rise of aircraft in the military.
