It is a great look but un sprung weight is the worst weight you can have.....gotta go with function over form in this case.

The Emory's have been taking space saver spares from 80's cars, and widening them and putting them on their 356 outlaws for a number of years now.

I think they look absolutely awesome.

That green 911 is something like what I am thinking of making (9" rear fenders, trunk filler cap, stock otherwise). Looks good.

I know how heavy my 7 inch steelies felt. I can imagine how heavy those are. Look cool though.

There is a company that makes steel centers with alloy hoops for 356s. They could probably do it and be light.

I wish more of these drivers' cars were featured in our Porsche fan media like excellence. Tired of pristine high dollar cars.

Curious what wide steelies weigh compared to the "modern" 17/18/19" wagon wheels. They sure look better!

Emory cars are cool to the extreme and those wheels look fantastic...but I agree with those on this post that offer concerns about unsprung weight as a huge problem. Cruising around town is one thing, but throwing the car around some challenging road....I'd rather have a lighter set up. I love those outlaw cars, but IMHO there has to be a performance aspect to the mods...not just theatre. Cheers

.

Hello
Sorry to post this here and not in the classifieds, but reading this interesting post I remembered I need to sell a set of steelies I'm not going to be using, if anyone is interested. Fronts are 7x15 and rears are 8X15 but they fit inside a narrow body because the offset was designed for this application by the builder. They are white powder coated and unused since minor straightening and paint applied. They are now straight and mint. I finally decided to run a new set of chromed 7X15 steelies from Stoddard with chrome caps on my 1971 911T. I'll get post pictures later today if interested. Price $1650 for the set, plus shipping and Paypal fees.
Cheers
MD

^^^ Just for reference, since it's being discussed, could you weigh those for us? Thanks!

Was it the 904 that had "steelies" with steel center and alloy hoops? Don't think they weighed much.
