Engine/ Tranny rattle
I thought I used to be quite good at smooth shifting but....
At times that when starting from a dead stop and I don't have the rpm's well over 1500 and I lift the clutch to get going, the entire motor and tranny shakes and rattles like H--L. This also occurs when I engauge 2nd coming out of first at a low speed. (Note: I have a kelvar clutch installed) Am I not giving it anough gas in 1st (any more just sounds like a lot) and am I shifting too soon to second? I'm thinking this may also be soft/ loose motor mounts or am I just showing how little I really know?

Oliver, I had this problem when a chap who used to be my mechanic put a bad clutch in my car. It felt like the car was about ready to start bunny hopping down the street as the clutch took up. I hope your (expensive ?) kevlar clutch is ok...

My 78SC sounds like plates clapping together when shifting a low rpms. Someone told me these cars are not meant for driving in 1st gear. 1st gear is just to get the car going, then get into 2nd gear ASAP.
Also, I have to put the car into 2nd gear before I put it into 1st gear. This lines up the gears and I avoid the grind. It sounds like you have a different problem, but thought this might help with a frame of context.
