New plates... kids made me do it.
I'm generally opposed to vanity plates on a number of levels:
1) I just LOVE to pay taxes and I found a way to pay more! 2) Look at ME!!! My kids insisted that the new (to us) Porsche deserved new plates and they came up with this. I'm kind of surprised it was still available. ![]()

Just like you, I was hesitant to put the personalized plates on the car when my wife gave them to me for x-mas, but now I can't imagine my car with-out them.
They tend to grow on you, especially when a family member picks them out.

Well, Justin and I have been like brothers for about 25 years now. We named our first sons after each other. Besides being a great guy to hang around with, I respect and admire him more than anyone I know.
I was with him when he bought the Targa in 1983. We had a lot of great times in that car, but he knew I was always far too practical to buy a car like that for myself. When he got a new car (an Audi A8), he shipped the Porsche to me for Christmas. I had NO IDEA! I got a call from the delivery truck driver who said, "I have a Porsche 911 to deliver to you. Where would you like it delivered?" I was too excited to wait, so I had him deliver it to the office. Needless to say, not much work got done that day.

Moses - I guess your kids are learning their spanish in school!
I like clever vanity plates and confusing ones for the cops. The ones I am not a fan of (sorry to you guys who have them) are ones telling the year or motor. So many people think my car is NEW, I dont mention it unless they ask. And hey, let the ricers wonder what engine you have in there! Jack needs to hide his 3.6 sticker in the rear window! ;-)

Moses.. not to rain in your parade but VAMANOS does not mean anything in spanish.. on the other hand VAMONOS (let's go) will be the correct spanish spelling.... unless it has some mexican/spanish meaning that escapes me (I was born and raised in Spain)...
Just trying to help...

Pardon my ignorance...I'm from Canada and we don't speak Spanish here much. What does Vamanos (or Vamonose) mean?
![]() By the way, in my province, license plates (tags to y'all) belong to the insurance policy, and not the car or driver. This means that you can get new plates pretty much anytime you want for a nominal plate fee. In BC, the plates just changed from being three letters followed by three numbers, to three numbers followed by three letters. The Porsche club guys (myself included) phone around to the various insurance agents (there are hundreds) until they find one that has a plate ending in 911 (or 964, or 993 etc). Then you go there, drop a $30 plate fee, and walk away with your "stealth" vanity plates. I'm currently running CPH-911. But with the new plate format, I'm going to start looking for something cooler....like 911-POR or 911-XXX. ![]()

I misspelled "vamanos"? Please don't tell the salsa band Malo. They are very particular about their spelling!
Actually, the spanish/english dictionaries use all three: vaminos, vamanos and vamonos. Not sure which is preferred, but they all mean, LET'S GO! Anyway, people frequently butcher spelling on plates for availability or space restrictions.

I promise I will not tell them!!!
In spanish (from Spain) there is no forms of the verb 'ir' with 'vaminos' or 'vamanos' ... If you are happy.. I'm happy. Regards

I have friends from Mexico that tell me the phrases and pronunciation vary so much from region to region it's almost not the same language. Having lived in California most of my life, I'm sure my limited spanish is a confused arrangement of Mexican dialects. I just hope people can figure out what the plate is intended to say.
