Update a/c compressor
My 1972 911 has factory air conditioning, which has been disconnected at the compressor for years. My plan is to get it working again. I plan to change all the hoses and the evaporator in the left front wheel well. And I plan to change the old York compressor pump to one that is more efficient (and T will definitely work).
So here is my question: as an upgrade to the old OEM York pump, is there a compressor pump that is considered to be the best and most efficient? What are others doing? I remember years ago that people were using Nippondenso pumps. This has not been a thought in my mind for many years, so I have no clue what to do and how to do it. What I want is to have my A/C working as ll as can be expected. Thanks for your advice. |
No need for a new compressor, hoses, or additional condenser - all you need are a couple of SPAL fans and an octanary switch! :p

I'm in the process of removing my entire A/C system from my 82. It has Sanden rotary compressor. All the components are currently on the car so everything matches.

So, is a Sanden rotary compressor the best way to go? Thanks!

There has been a bit of A/C drama in the past few days.
I'm sure folks will chime in and help you tomorrow. Nick

Sorry to say that some people on the forum have become a bit gun shy on answering A/C questions as they seem to become pointless exchanges of irrelevant information.
I would suggest reading this Porsche 911 Air Conditioning, Porsche 930 Air ConditioningUpgrade Updates,Improvements. The upgrade route is not a cheap one and perhaps you can pick and choose what you want to do. Will you be performing these repairs/modifications yourself or be using a shop to do the work for you? He may chime in an help out on this thread. Good luck with your project! |
