77 911 with spare 3.0 for sale
I've lost my motivation to continue this project. My 77 has a stock 2.7 in it. I recently bought a 1980 3.0. that was to go in it. I bought this car a few months ago with lots of motivation, now I have none. What's a cherry 77 911 that includes a very nice 3.0 engine worth. Interior cherry as well. pic included. I prefer to sell all as a package.

Here is what he has to say about the car and the engine in his posting on the 911 Parts Board: "I've lost my motivation on this project. I bought the 77 911 about 4 months ago. The interior was very nice, although I took all panels, etc off and replaced with nicer ones. The body is straight with no rust. Paint job done probably within the last year or so. The car has a stock 2.7 that does run, but may need some engine work or just needs a tune up. I decided to by a 1980 3.0 which I now have in my garage. By the looks of it, it has had some mods done on it. I don't rally have the space to work on this, which takes all teh fun out of it. I paid $7500 for the car, and $3600 for the engine, about a $1000 on the interior, and another $1000 on misc engine parts. I'm only looking to recoop for the original cost of the car and the new engine. I can send pic of both car and engine. Tom"

I'm honestly sorry to hear this. I'll spread the word around about the car. But here's my advice for what it's worth. Give it a couple weeks. Don't even look at the car or engine. If your thoughts are the same after some time away from it, then it's time to sell it.
Good luck. |

Man! I though we've have another 2.7 to 3.0 member.
F2P, sorry you lost the passion, but I will tell you that a 3.0 in our cars is a lot of fun. I have a 76S with a 78 3.0 motor. I have spent the last 9 months working on mine. I have space and a couple of other cars to drive (now a new-to-me motorcycle) so I have been working on it off and on as my work load at the office and home allows. The experience and knowledge after having done this is well worth the effort. Unless you need the money, hang on to the project and see if you don't change your mind. You have a great looking car to start with. Mine doesn't look so good and I still enjoy it. E-mail me directly if you need further motivation or help. I'll pass the word around in case you really do want to sell (but you know what I think). Souk H. |

Dude.. don't dispair....Take a break.. chill out for a few days even a couple of weeks.. Figuring things out??? what exactly are you incountering that has turned you away? Thats what this board is for. All you have to do is ask... and someone will guide you through it.
I can understand not having space to work on your car.. that would be a bummer.... you must know someone that will put up with you and your car for 2 days.. thats all you need. Dude... you are soooooo close..and to just walk away..look at what you already completed.. your car is very nice.. and with that transplant it will be the icing on the cake.. c'mon.. hang in there Dude. Really think about what your doing.. Jorge (Targa Dude) ![]() Last edited by Targa Dude; 07-24-2002 at 08:41 PM.. |

F2P, I agree w/ the others, give it a week or two, maybe while trying to sell at same time. Might take a while to sell, maybe not. Keep your options open, SC motor is easy to sell by itself. FWIW, that transplant is extremely straightforward, not much hassle at all. If rest of car is mechanically strong, maybe try to get motor installed w/ some Pelican help, (didn't you get some offers to install in exchange for 2.7?), it will then be very sellable or you may decide to keep. Good luck!

Wow guys, thanks for all your advice and willingness to help. Y'all certainly changed my attitude. The replacement of the engine is actually in the works right now with a shop called hergshiemer in lake forest. I probably spelled that wrong. They were the only ones happy enough to do it. Supertec doesn't do that kind of thing, Andial doesn't want to do it. Part of the frustration was just finding a shop to do it. This couldn't be done in my garage because it's to small. Another part of the frustration is getting everything to work. This is where I'll need the real help. I've got the lambda brain from an 83sc, but unsure how it hooks up. Also wondering how to connect the rest of the engine up to the existing infrastructure. I heard something about a 6 pin CDI, have to change tac, etc. This is a beast unlike any I've ever worked on!

Why don't you just get rid of the Lambda portion of the CIS. I believe this can be done, guys?
At worst, you set the CIS to pre-lambda spec withthe right parts. This will also cut out some of the components that will likely go bad. I'll have to find my CIS info binder and research it, but it should be doable. Too bad you're in Cali and I'm in the Mid-west. Otherwise I'd offer to come help and pledge you into the "2.7-2-3.0" brotherhood, MUHAAHHHH!!!! Take that you SCWDP guys. "2.7-2-3.0 LOVE!" Midwest! ![]() |

I would love to get rid of the F^&*@!g lambda part, however since this is CA, the sons of bi atches would frown on it. Besides, I just paid $200 for the lambda brain, and gosh darn golley, I'm gonna use it.
