Post Is this normal

How hard should it be to put the exhaust rocker arm shafts back in.

The engine is out of the car and on a stand. I am finally getting it all back together. The intake rocker shaft went in real easy but the exhaust shafts will not go in. I do not want to force them as I do not want to warp or damage the bores in the cam tower.

As I remember I pout them into baggies and marked them as I took them out so they should be going back into the same bore. Are the exhaust and intake shafts the same??

I do not think the cam tower was warped when I torques it down as the cam shaft turns pretty smoothly.

Any clues. Should I just hammer them in with a rubber mallet??

sometimes the leading edge of the bore has some nicks or burrs that have to be trimmed off before the shaft can be started. you should remove and replace them thru the thin boss, as the thick boss is usually full of crusty crap that can score the bore.
