911 Fuchs on a Boxster

Hideously disfigured monster? Or cool retro look?

Yes, it's a photochop.

IMO they don't work with the lines of the car. However i find that fuch's only really work on early cars....i don't even like them on sc's or carreras...lol

so here is one end of the spectrum, and now you'll have 10+ saying that they are amamzing.

Hmm. Bring the petals out to the rims and let's look again. Right now - hideously disfigured. I halfway expect them to be spinners!

Wheels look great but not on the boxster which I think is a great looking car.

Here is the original car for comparison:

I appreciate that not everyone likes the Boxster, regardless of wheels. Porsche with panties and all that.

The question I should have asked is "do the fuchs help or hurt"?

I like the fuchified version better than the original.

Given that choice, yes, the Fuchs are better.

But I think the wheels are entirely too big. Show more sidewall.

Its interesting how a competent handling and driving car has gotten the "hairdressers" label ! The naysayers have obviously not been dusted on the track by a competently prepared car with decent drivers. C'mon on out to the POC races and see how the spec boxster series (which is limited on preparation) is leaving some seriously prepped 911's in the dust !

and this is coming from a guy that preps and builds a lot of cool 911's

You're right, it would have to be less dished to fit.

Maybe someone with better photoshop skills can tackle this? It is beyond me.

And I agree it needs a little more sidewall.

But overall, I'm down for "cool retro". I think it cleans the car up, removes some 'bling. It might work well with some other retro ques.

I think it could look good. The color is wrong -- I'm normally a fan of the frosted RSR finish, but on this car, it doesn't go with the silver.

Start with 6" Fuchs as the "paste." You know better than I that those backsets won't work on the Box. With the petals more flush, it would be a better representation of the "cool retro look" you speak of. I believe some of the early Boxsters came with 16" wheels, so a welded up set of 7's and 8's or 9's would fit, AFAIK. Not on the S though, the brakes would interfere (?).

To me, it looks like Fuchs on a 356, a look that I haven't come to completely accept.

Fuchs would look great on anything from a wheelchair to a baby carriage.

With the right offsets I say they look cool.

i like the retro touch that it lends to the car. in fact, i'll reconsider this look on a coxster if i ever have one.
