I can't believe the sons didn't turn it into a museum and vintage parts business, thats what I would have done.

Why was it just closed in 96??? All those cars, just sitting? Must be a HUGE place to house that many. Weird.

There are many, many caches of old cars like this around. Maybe not with 1 mile on the clock, but plenty of time-warp warehouses where crazy-ass folks like ourselves store Things On Wheels.

One story I love is the all-alloy bodied racing XKE coupe found in a shed under a tarp in England. Had the original dents from its final race and plenty of racing history - the lucky guy who bought it from the elder gentleman rushed it to a restorer for certification, insurance, and restoration.

Gotta keep 'em all on the road! Esp. that little corvette pedi-car.

I still don't get why these folks had so many old cars with almost no miles until '96...

it's a shame the Jag got restored. I hope it was a 'restoration" that kept the racing patina.

I think this may be the ex Qvale car you are referring to and it was found in a garage in Southern California, covered in debris, with some of the paint sanded off, where the second owner had left it following a divorce-his son contacted the right people after the father died. It was auctioned off at a substantial price and has raced at Goodwood etc several times-it was mechanically restored. (ie It got a brand new engine).
