OK...Here's how you Pronounce "Fuchs"

Here it is:

It rhymes with Puke as in throwup...so fukes

http://www.yourdictionary.com/ahd/f/f0349100.html

Click on the link above and there is an audio button that will pronounce the word Fuchs...

By the way the translation from German to English is "Fox"

Uh. No. We could rehash it again, but suffice to say that the site is wrong.

I pronounce it Fukes, but that's just to be polite. The German word for Fox has an, ahhh, interesting pronunciation that's very close to a slang word.

The correct pronunciation rhymes with "books". Just replace the B with an F.

And a single wheel is not called a Fuch. It's Fuchs, whether one or more. One Fuchs wheel, two Fuchs wheels.

click on any of the little speaker icons on the right side.

It's German for fox, I believe, which is pronounced in such a way that it rhymes with books.

I'm happy with fooks. Now you figure out how I said that Just to keep people from turning their heads and covering their children's ears, I usually say fukes.

I'm with Mikey, it doesn't really matter much usnless someone is trying to tell you that it's fuushes. That has happened. The guy probably also said porches. Now that DOES matter, eh?

there may be different regional pronunciations - certainly the Bavarian dialect is a bit different

I was stationed in GrossSachsenheim for 4 years. My wife was born and grew up in Hemmingen - very close to Stuttgart and she pronounces it like fukes or fooks. There are different dialoges in different areas of Germany so maybe that is where the confusion lies.

That's correct! By Kraut-Authority!

Porsche is not Poorsh, the "e" at the end is pronounced like:"eh", so it sounds like Porscheh.

Now we go on to pronounce "Antriebschwierigkeiten" which relates to problems with motor/clutch/transmission/axles etc.

Or: " Himmeldonnerwetter" which refers to situations when the Targa roof is leaking, or: "Verdammte Scheisse" when the car doesn't run and you cannot find the problem.

Pretty soon you can read the repair manual in German.
