Biggest Porsche race

Help,

Is this a record? Yesterday there were 50 Porsches in the same race at Kyalami. The cars ranged from GTs and 996 'R' and humble 924s.

Amazingly there were very few incidents, but I wanna know if there has ever been a bigger field of Porsches?

Cheers

Porsche is going NASCAR in South Africa? 50 cars is a huge field.
Cindy & I went to the PCA club races in Portland, Oregon yesterday. There were more than 50 Porsche race cars there, but different classes, different races.

pwd72s,

Usually there are separate races for a 924 and open classes, and they are run in a handicap format where the slowest car starts first, but track time was limited so it was decided that the classes would be combined and use a rolling start.

It was quite a spectacle, especially when you consider that the fastest car a 996 GT3R was about 40 seconds quicker than the slowest 924.

Over here we don't have rules apart from the fact that the car must be a Porsche and be raceworthy as there are no classes as such, but most of the cars pure racing devices rather than tweaked road cars.

Cheers

Wow, 50 P-cars must have been a great sight.

The only thing that might be close I'm aware of was/is a Porsche Cup race but I think the most I remember was 30 or 35.

Any pictures of them heading into the first turn ?

Surely at least one of you know of a bigger field of Porsches in one race.

I am getting quite desperate.

Thanks
