Seal suppliers.

I thought someone posted that almost any type of seal could sourced and found through the use of the serial (not a Porsche number) number located on the seal itself?

I damaged a one piece rear wheel bearing on my wife`s car. The bearing is fine, but the rubber seal that is a press fit on the bearing is history. I think these can be obtained at industrial suppiers? Is this correct??

I would hate to buy a new $75 bearing when all I need is a $3 seal.
