What type of grease on rubber sway bar bushings?
I'm in the process of install the suspension components an am wondering what type of lubricant to use on the sway bar bushings. Just standard grease or?
I am using the stock rubber bushings and they have a grease groove on the inside surface. |
I believe in the 101 Projects book Wayne suggests white lithium grease. That is what I used.

Petroleum grease will make it stick, just like if it was dry/no grease.
Chuck Moreland says no grease. He's the Elephant suspension guru, so i'd give the nod to his recommendation http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/708578-should-front-sway-bar-bushings-greased.html |
I believe the factory spec was glycerin but likely for ease of install and maybe some preservative effect. Dry is fine as 'lubes' will not last very long.

Petroleum grease will attack the rubber and age them quickly. You can use lithium, silicone or run em dry. I prefer a dab of silicone grease.
