Fuel filter confusion
Dear Pelicanites,
looking at the fuel filter that was installed on my '80 SC with an '81 engine, I'm confused as to what I should order to replace it. The filter I've got is a Bosch 0 450 905 016 with a 14 mm inlet and 16 mm outlet adapter. I understand from searching that this filter is for a '76 application. ![]() Any idea why the previous owner may have installed it? Which filter would fit in my situation with an '80 car and '81 engine (Porsche changed the fuel filter from '80 to '81)? Does anyone know the inlet/outlet sizes for the -'80 and '81- filters? Thank you, Manfred |

I don't have an answer to your question, but I had the same issue. Ordered a filter by year, didn't fit. Looked at the Bosch part number and I had a 76 filter. I just order 76 filters now...

Fuel filter fittings..........
Manfred,
The fuel filter you have (-016) has the following specification: Inlet: 14 mm x 1.5 Outlet: 14 mm x 1.5 Filter #-003 has same inlet/outlet thread as -016. On the other hand filter #021 & #-079 have the following: Inlet: 14 mm x 1.5 Outlet: 12 mm x 1.5 These numbers are for the fuel filter inlet/outlet fittings and no adaptors. So your fuel fitting adaptors would depend on your fuel lines mostly 16 mm x 1.5. This would be a case to case basis because some engines have been previously altered and may not be the same OEM fittings. Tony |

![]() ![]() Check with our host, as I was told the KL-21 now comes with multiple fittings. I think it has become the "universal" filter for most models. Len ![]() Last edited by BoxsterGT; 08-30-2013 at 12:30 PM.. |
