Weak headlights 964 Upgrade??
The factory 964 h5 headlights seem pretty weak and lame..
I firgured you guys already know this and would know the be upgrade bulbs to get.. So what the BEST brand.. watt.. etc for factory h5 oh and where to buy .. thanks in advice. :) |
best bet is to upgrade the h5 assemblies to h4 euro assemblies
|
If you really want to see well at night, upgrade to the Euro H4 with the HID conversion. Everything fits in the headlamp bucket. We have done a 964 and an '88 Carrera with both owners very happy with the results.
Here is a link for 993 HID conversion, not the same kit as we used above, but we are ordering a kit to see the quality of it all. Very attractive price. Bergvill FX |
really?? . there is just not a superior bulb to just install and go yet?? lol..
|
the problem is with the h5 lens' aiming pattern, mandated by the us dept. of transportation (DOT).
The european h4 headlights have a sharp cutoff like modern HIDprojector headlights (hence the 2 suggestions) You could try throwing in high watt h5 bulbs (Do 964s need relay upgrades for hiwatt bulbs like my carrera?), but ultimately swapping out light assemblies is your best bet. |
i have a brand new set of H4 for the longhoods 911 .Will they work?
just screw on my painted trim rings and go then?. tell me i dont have to cut the factory wiring on the 964.. thanks so much!! |
The H4 light assemblies will go in directly, although they mount very differently than the H5s.
Wiring socket is different, you'll need to build adapters or change the socket. The painted H5 rings will not fit on H4 assemblies. You'll need to leave them chrome/black, or buy a pair of primed H4 over-rings and paint them. |
"Oh Marone".. haha.. thanks guys
it not that important for all that.. Ill just drive the 996 at night , alot easier. lol maybe some cibies hood lights wel this is my new C4 the MOST FUN 911 i have ever driven this things goes and has tons of grip wow http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1372818652.jpg |
