Case Number Question
Porsche 911 SC newbie. Was looking at the case number on my 83 Cabriolet and noted the case number which is 930-101-104-4R. Does this tell me anything? Trying to figure if the engine is correct for this year. Where is the engine number located?

Look on the right side of the intake fan . It is in a vertical position

Wow, that's not immediately visible. 64D3271
Thanks |
Yes it does. The engine type should be 930/16.
How about some pics of the car :) |
|
Looking good.
Do you have the Owners Guide? |
I do not.

Post a picture of the engine and we can tell you if it's correct or not. Short of that, if your air filter housing lays across the top of the engine and you have individual hard fuel lines going to each cylinder, you have the correct 3.0 engine. 1983 was the last year of the 3.0 engine. Now as far as your particular engine being the original engine for your car, only a copy of the original window sticker or a Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche will tell you that.
If your engine has a square air filter box, positioned on the right side of the engine, then someone put a 3.2l engine in. Pictures are best:) |
