I remember buying this special feature magazine but misplaced it around 1989. Found it today inside another book. It's from 1988 and features good articles on just about every Porsche made until then. Talks about the 959 being the most technically advanced car ever made. A decade later and some things haven't changed.
One picture is of Ferdinand Porsche's 16 cylinder R-Type Auto Union GP car. It says "tricky to handle, but blindingly fast" and "In 1937 it broke 17 records, including the flying kilometer at 252.47 MPH.
I didn't even know cars could go that fast 65 years ago.
I'll have good reading on my flight tomorrow.
