I have always wanted to convert my Targa to a Cab (this thread is obviously not for you hard-core Coupe-guys
..) and I have finally come across a top that would fit my car - it's an early style SC-top in good shape (no scratches on the rear window either), complete with front- and rear body mounts (it comes from a totalled car, so they're cutting off the mounts for me). Including shipping, which is fairly expensive, the top would come in at approximatley USD1900 - is this a fair price? By the way -it's a manual top (which is fine by me..).

Being a coupe fan I'm not experienced with this, but... a dum question: What happens to body stiffness if the Targa rollbar is removed?

I thought Targas were built on a Cab body?? Surely that is the very first thing to check. i guess you have done this. So what is the answer?

"widebody" Thom F. did that to his car. Check his threads or his webpage.

I have also heard that Cabriolet's were built on Targa's.
Anyhow, I have the factory conversion booklet, and it mentions nothing about that you have to stiffen the body. Well, I suppose that can be fixed after the conversion is done if flex becomes more noticable. I don't track my car, so I hope I can get away without having to do any body modifications. Since I started the thread this morning, I struck a deal with the seller, so the days that my car remains a Targa is now numbered
