M & K mufllers feedback
I have a 74 Euro Carrera 2.7l mfi, thinking about one of these M&K 2 in 1 out mufflers when I change out the heat exchangers. Any feedback would be appreciated, have stock Heat exchangers and muffler now but rusting out. Fine with the stock sound. Thanks.

M&k is not a stocksound! Be warned,
Check out the MK sound at 5500 rpm ( 2 in 1 out) at my few laps at Sebring. You T "PCA Sebring Blast"

I have an M&K on the 88. I really like the sound. Not stock but not too loud. High quality piece. Perfect fit. Also have their pre-muffler. On the 88 it is 1in/1out.

Nicely made mufflers.
I had no cat, pre muffler and added a M&K 1 in 1 out on an 83sc US spec. Nice sound. It did reduce some mid range torque tho and put that torque band higher on the RPM band. Free flowing often means more HP at high rpm, less torque at mid range...where do you do most of your driving. Presently have a euro 83 sc spec motor in the car with SSI's and a Dansk 2 in 1 out. Very crisp mid range. I'd like a lighter M&K but suspect I'd soften my mid range torque again. |

Just installed their pre muffler and muffler on my 89 yesterday. I did quite a bit of research and M&K gets high marks from most everyone.
Quality and fit were great. It is a good sporty sound but not obnoxious at all. Still sounds like a Porsche.

Popular mufflers. I've thought about them myself. There is some feeling that the best power comes from the Leistritz "sport" muffler but I cannot personally vouch one way or the other.

BTW, the stock Bischoff muffler on my 83 SC 930-16 gave better performance in the 3 to 5k range than the M&K did.
"Sport Mufflers" normally are just opened up and 'sound fast' and may give you more HP (may) at the highest rpm's. The German designers did a pretty good job matching a muffler to a given cars dynamics....most folks are only responding to the 'growl' and not the actual loss/gain that goes with. The M&K is a quality made piece in SS, very light, but reduced the performance where I spend most of my driving time. |

looks like it just might be the dansk 2 in 1 out as I tend to sit in the mid range, love to drive the euro Carrera just not much racing. Thanks for replies. any other suggestions ref mufflers would be appreciated.

I installed a 2in 2 out and like it a lot..... Would have preferred a 2 in 1 out due to drone though.....
Also, you have better luck using google to search this forum for M &K than you will using the native search feature on the forum... This search term is too short to work.....

I have the older gen 2/2. Minimal droning is almost unnoticeable for me. I even enjoy my music. I won't get anything else. I think Dansk sport will get you even closer to stock sound.

Dansk Sport (2-in 1-out) w the 84mm outlet is one of the best sounding exhausts in my mind.

If I had the coin when doing the mufflers I would have gone for a 2 in 2 out.
But I don't have a radio and the wife doesn't have to much to talk about. They are a little on the loud side but the power curve feels so much stronger. Will get on the dyno later on in the year. |

Just an opinion, but I would get the 2 in/out model and also the cap for the second outlet. You get the look of the dual exhaust and you can cap and uncap the second outlet in 5 minutes at will. The two in/out sounds awesome but drones a little during regular driving. It's almost silent at 3000 RPM. With the second outlet capped it still sounds mean but the drone is cut out almost altogether. I get a lot of looks with both outlets open, the type of look seems to vary with age and gender of the onlooker
