Another Backdate thread
 

I know these are popping up everywhere, but I thought what the heck.

I wanted to take a very simple approach to mounting the body panels with the goal to lighten the car up as much as possible. I want a fairly light stripped down street car that will see some autocross and track duty.

Base car - '75 911 with fiberglass flares added sometime in the 80's.

Rear bumper - I used an AIR rear bumper and to mount it I made my own mounts that bolt in to the original rear bumper mounts on the body with hood pins sticking through to support the bumper. I glassed in a mounting tab to the inside of the fenders and put speed nuts on the bumper.
Now, to remove the bumper I pull two pins and remove two thumb screws. It takes all of 30 seconds to pull the bumper for engine removal or exhaust swap.

Front Bumper - Some used fiberglass S bumper. I used the original mounts in the bumper, cut off the forward part of the bodies bumper mounts, and drilled holes n the body to mount the bumper. For the corners of the bumper I used turnbuckles to adjust the taughtness and final position. Front bumper takes about 10 minutes to remove.

Hood - Steel long hood that I used hood pins on. I thought about(and actually purchased) the rubber hold downs, but didn't think they were secure enough so I went with pins.

That is it for now. The car goes in for lowering, alignment, corner balance on Friday along with a little bit of dyno time.

I'm currently looking for a painter, and hope to get it in somewhere in the next month or so.

The front fenders are metal OEM Porsche fenders from long wheel base cars.
The final color will be Orange (156). That is the original color of the '75 and I like it, so I'm sticking with it. Plus it will be easier without the color change. I'm going to pull all the glass,rubber,trim, etc for paint but not fully strip the car.

The calico look is funny. I live in TN, so you see a lot of Mustangs, Camaros, Japanese cars, etc... that look like this.

Didn't get it on the dyno, but had it lowered and corner balanced.

Currently weighs in at 2140lbs with a little over half a tank of gas.
