How to remove the 997 socket lighter?
Hello, I'm trying to remove the socket lighter of the center console 997 but is impossible. Please do you know how to remove it???:confused:
|
heiwaz - This is not the correct forum for the 997.
However, I did do a quick search on 997 lighter sockets and found this blurb: You need to reach the back of the lighter.First, feel (if you can't get to where you can see it) if the wires are connected. If yes disconnect negative side of car battery,Next determine if lighter back threads, or screws on to base. Most do, But some do push-snap into place, If so, you will have to reach the back of lighter and squeeze the tabs together and push the lighter out.!!!! ALWAYS DISCONNECT BATTERY FIRST !!!! Hope this helps. |
I knew that is fixed with tabs, but I don't know where is locatad these tabs. the lighter socket it can be separate in 2 parts, one the metal/black plastic and other the transparent plastic. I believe that inside the hole are located the tabs but I'm not sure, I try to push them but can't slide.
this is the 2 parts (left and right): *why not is the correct forum? is a technical question and is a 911, or no? |
finally, I could separate them!

Excellent work!!!!
As to the forums - the 911 technical forum is for early and mid year - through 1989. It is not very clear from the title. It's mostly mid year as the really old 911 guys have several other forums (outside of pelican) to choose from. However, there are plenty of old 911 owners that post here. If you look at the forum choices here you will see the 964 / 993 / etc. Rennlist.com is very good for newer 911's. There is a participation fee. |
