Using factory fender cooler shroud w/aftermarket cooler
Has anyone successfully used the factory fender cooler guard with an aftermarket cooler? I have a cooler that is the approximate dimensions across the "face" to the stock cooler, but other than that everything is basically different. I was going to fab up a shroud from sheet metal, but then got to thinking that it might not be terribly difficult to get the stock one to somehow fit.
Anyone done this? Better off just fabing something up? Todd

It might depend on what your priorities are. If you care about having a "factory look" inside your fender, get the OE shroud. If not, it's pretty easy to cut a shroud out of sheet aluminum. I did this with a Mocal cooler for my '72 a few years ago (primarily a DE car at the time, so aesthetics were not a concern).
This was very effective for me, especially with the little scoop dipping down into the airflow underneath the car. Roger ![]()

Brought the F-W down to KSCK yesterday, most of Oregon and Northern Calif were covered with smoke 2 hours of instrument flying in a 55 year old plane with no autopilot. Haven't flown steam gauges in 20 years....

![]() I wish I could have gone with you, but work keeps me tied down. I haven't flown a glass cockpit so I'm right at home with all that old school stuff.

Try a Lightning...no real air flow...can't roll the windows down or the drag causes mucho yaw...LOL No heat on a cold day either. And...no auto pilot! Bob
