1975 911 speedo issues, Help!
Still a newb with my 1975 911 Targa.
My speedometer works, but the odometer and tripometer do not. I have tried two different speedos and get an accurate speed indicator but no movement on the odo or trip?? Could a wrong cable (installed by the previous owner) be an issue. Any idea which correct cable I need to buy? (Our host is pretty vague on the 1975 cable) BTW, when i turn the end (that the cable slips into with a small screwdriver) the odometer does move, so i don't think it is a bad cable, but might i be missing something? HELP! Thank you. Jim Safety Harbor, fl. '75 911s Targa |

the little gears that drive the odo can break. i believe there's a tech article on host site about this.

To add some more info....When I took it apart, there were no broken gears and I could actually rotate each the trip and odometer with it cycling through 10, 100, 1,000, etc....mile increments. So I don't think any gears are split or broken. Still perplexed about this....
