Introduction after a few years 77' and 84 Cab

Well, I have never formerly introduced the other parts of my family to the board so here are a couple of my wallet picture. and the buying stories behind them. I must say that without the knowledge and the willingness to pass on that knowledge I don't think I would own one of these let alone 2!. So a huge thank you. like most everyone else on Pelican, I really am a hands on guy that believes with the knowledge I can work on them as well as anybody can.....sometimes.

The 77' S I bought off my mechanic. He sells cars to. I had always wanted one, I had never been in one before and promised my self that when I had the right garage to put it in I would buy one. So one summer day, a Friday, I walked onto my mechanics lot, he came out, threw me the keys and his demo plate and said take it for a spin and if you like it just keep it for the weekend. I came back on Monday with a cheque and a grin that had been there since Friday afternoon. By the way, I didn't yet have a garage, that would come 3 months later.

I have since done a lot of work on the car with just a little more needed. It is getting a rest this summer as I decided to drive the 84'

The 84' and again, I was on my mechanics lot. This guy drives in with the car and says he needs a quick sale, now, and he needs a 4 door to drive the kids around in. Divorce stuff going on in the back ground there. So my mechanic takes the car for a spin with me riding shot gun. He likes it but it needs a tranny but is still a good deal at the price he was asking. So I jump all over that coment and say, "How about if I buy it and you rebuild the Tranny for me?" He likes the Idea as he is still going to make some money out of it. I get a dream car and I just happen to have my really nice 85' BMW 535i with me that day. We got back to the lot and worked out the deal. Later that afternoon, he got the Bimmer and some cash And I got a really nice 84' Cab with 135k miles on it. I should mention that this was Wednesday and I was getting married on Saturday. Sooo.. I had some splainin to do. She loved it. I left it with the Mechanic to do the tranny while we were on our honeymoon. Other than being a newlywed I really had something to look forward to when I got back.

So those are my belated stories. I have had more time to really start getting into all the joys of owning these wonderful machines and thought I would share them with you.

Happy driving this summer to all!

PK
