Front Bumper Installation Procedure

Need some help with installation of optional "S" bumper on my 73T. (see attachment)

I have the two brackets (item 19) and the four M8 bolts and washers to secure the two brackets to the body near the battery boxes.

I also have the four M10 bolts and washers to attach the bumper to the brackets.

Seems like if I attach the brackets to the chassis with the M8 bolts first, I won't be able to get to the back-side of the bumper to tighten the M10 bolts into the bumper.

The holes in the brackets used for attaching the bracket to the bumper are horizontally elongated to allow for alignment of the bumper.

If I attach the brackets to the bumper first, it seems like the brackets may be too tight or too loose to attach to the chassis.

Anyone have experience with this to tell me what the best way to attach a freshly painted bumper and new bumper brackets?

Thanks,

Tom Gilfoil

Tom,

I don't know if there is a better way, but what I did was to mount the bracket onto the bumper, firmly but allowed to move with a little force.

Fit the bumper up, and lined up with the fenders etc, then do up the 4 bolts that hold the bumper, effectively pulling the brackets into place.

From memory you can access the bottom bolt through the lower hole in the front latch panel, but if you can't (I don't know about an S bumper) get a friend, and drop the bumper, do up the brackets, and as the factory manuals like to say " reverse the order"

Hope that helps
