Fiberglass Hoods and Center Fills
Been looking at FG hoods by various makers and there's some obvious things to consider when using one, but something I hadn't seen much discussion about is center-fill setups.
I'm sure converting to center-fill is relatively simple for a standard, non-cored FG hood, but what about foam core? Anyone modified a foam core hood for their center-fill fuel tank arrangement? While on the subject of FG hoods, anyone simply reinforce a standard non-cored hood so at speed it wouldn't "burp"? Seems like glassing in some super light weight bows would be simple. |

though the pictured hood is not foam core, you can add reinforcing strips to the underside as shown

This is TRE's filler piece, neck, and cap, on a foam-core hood. It looks SWEET

YEAH! That looks fantastic! I saw their filler conversion kit, but didn't notice if it came with the FG cone/ring to mold into the hood. Is that something you just glassed up yourself? No issues with the core itself? |
