NW Pelicanheads, here I come-sans P-car
Arriving Seattle on Wednesday the 14th of August, Staying downtown at the "W" til the 19th. I'll be entertaining a group of 15 to the Chateau on Thursday and Sunday and chartering flights to Eastern Washington on Friday and Monday..... then everybody leaves on Tuesday and I pick up a rental car and stay til Sunday the 25th. Mostly plan on camping and traveling around the state. Might drop in John Walkers shop just to say hello. My free time is Tuesday noon til Saturday night. Aug 20th-24th
Tenative plans include Fly Fishing a day or 2 on the Snoqualmie or Hoh, Hike into Glacier Meadows from Hoh visitors center, possible drive into Portland or either North to Everett and train to Vancouver then Calgary to visit friends. I've traveled to Seattle and around Washington quite a bit (this will be my 20th trip) so I'm fairly familiar with the area. Climbed St. Helens couple of years ago, Hiked around Mt. Adams, Hiked Hoh rainforest, traveled L&C trail through Oregon side of the Columbia crossed the old steel bridge near The Dalles etc...... Any other suggestions are welcome.....who's buying the beer...just kidding |
You MUST visit the Hoh rain forest before Christine and George stripmine it. It is the eighth wonder of the world!

Nice ideas....also consider hiking to Camp Muir from Paradise on Mt Rainier for a day hike if you have clear weather. BTW the train from Vancouver to Calgary is stunning scenery. If you do go to the Hoh, I think that weekend the 356 Club Northwest is rallying to the Quinault lodge so you'll be in the area if you want to see some nice cars....

Sounds like a nice trip. We are heading out to Juneau, Alaska this weekend to visit my sister and her family. We have a lot of cool things planned. It will be interesting to see if we see any porsches while we are there.
We are stopping in Seattle but just to change planes. I have another sister there but won't have enough time between flights to see her which is a bummer. What is the Chateau?? |
Gof further South
Come down to the Long Beach Peninsula and spend some time at the coast. Been to the mountains, been to Forks, now come to the beach spend some time where Lewis and Clark were, come now before ten million show up in the next 3 years.
