Headlights: Is the Right?!

Trying to chase down some odd ball issues with my turnsignals and Right Side High Beam. Pulled the lights out of the buckets and the running light / turn signal connectors caught my attention. I thought brown was always ground. Looks like on both sides there is a mismatch at the connectors.

Tried searching for some pics but have come up empty. This is a '88 930.

Thoughts?

So should the brown line to the running lights connect to the double (crimped) brown lines? Which running light line should go to the adjacent wire (black/white or gray/red)?

I just did mine today. My 84 is wired a bit differently as the parking light hot and ground is spliced to supply a running light bulb in my H4 lens, so they are easy to identify. I am certain about the right side of the photo. The brown does go with the brown. The grey/red to the marker lights is the parking light and the black/white is the signal. If you want to know for sure which is which, pull your headlight switch out one stop and test for 12v at the connector. The hot one is for your parking lights. If they do not light up properly try switching the wires. If they still don't light up don't forget to check out your bulbs as well.

BTW: in the top photo are there two brown wires coming from the turn signal housing?

Just double-checked the Bentley: on the drivers' side BLK/WHITE = turn, BLK/GREY = parking,
on the Pssgr side BLK/GREEN = turn, BLK/RED =parking. After the connectors, going out to the turn lights, GREY/RED on both sides is for the parking lights.

Thank you! I'm way over due to buy a Bentley Manual and WAY too tired of dealing with the phantom light issues.

Thanks again. Really appreciate it.
