Oil line strap location
So I'm reassembling the motor on my 85 Carrera coupe, and I have a ziplock bag with a rubber and metal strap in it. On the bag it says oil line to block.
Does anyone have a picture of where the oil line gets secured to the block? I'm stumped. Thanks in advance... |

First thing that comes to my mind is at the rear of the car where the hard oil line crosses over the back. The bracket bolts to one of the case studs near the right rear of the engine.
On a side note: This bracket is important! Crewed for a POC team that forgot to reinstall this bracket during an extended pit stop to fix an engine problem. They got through several more laps until the oil line fittings loosened up and the hard line pivoted down and started dragging on the track. That was the end of the race for the team...also meant a bunch of clean up at the track to clear oil slick so the race could get back under way. |

This may be the strap you are talking about

Agreed, that's where I've been looking. Fortunately, I do have the bracket, but it really is not obvious where it is supposed to go.

Yup... It acts like a hanger.

It bolts into the rear, near the bottom corner of the block (passenger side). Not sure what you mean by "plate?"

I had to go out and feel around mine in the dark. It goes on the outside of the bottom, passenger-side chain cover bolt.
I can get a pic in the morning if no one beats me to it. ;-)

Here's a pic of how it connects from another thread.
