oil thermostate
My SC oil temp gauge needle goes up to the red zone and my cooler lines are still cool. So I think my thermo in the wheelwell is stuck. Where does the thermo open? While the needle is in the normal zone or does it have to go in the red before the thermo opens.
Thanks Dean

The thermostat should begin opening about 185 F and be fully open about 195 F. This is around the 8 O'clock position if you don't have a numeric guage.
The red zone is way too F'ing hot for normal operation! Do not let your car operate in the red! You are drastically increasing engine wear. You need to fix that external thermostat immediately. Your temps are so high I suspect you may also have a problem with your internal thermostat. Test this by putting your hand beneath the internal oil cooler when it's warm (but before it reaches red!). It should be too hot to touch. If it is just warm, you have a bad internal tstat as well.

Thanks Chuck. It only goes to the red, not in the red, and it only happens when I am doing 90 mph on a 90 deg. day. I didn't know the thermo is supposed to open around 8:00 on the gauge.
I like your car names
