My front suspension isn't symmetrical? Help please

I was replacing the bushings in the front suspension of my 87 930. Putting in the sway bar was a b$tch...

Then, I realized the pieces weren't symmetrical?!?

The metal strip that holds the rear sway bushings, was half an inch longer on the right??? The is the strip that holds the aluminum suspension bar to the chassis, and also hold the back of the sway bar....

I know the prior owner changed the left a-arm in the past due to damage... Now I wonder if he got the parts from a non 930 ?

What other parts should I check??

I assume that these strip brackets are supposed to be symmetrical, right?

Are they longer on the 930 ?

Any help appreciated, I am puzzled.

A pic would help.

Some Turbo part are different but there seem only one version for the L/R A-arm; Porsche 911 & Carrera Suspension - Page 15

I hope the above link works... that is the part in question. According to our host, both sides seem symmetrical. Also, it seems like this part was unchanged over the years, whether turbo or not.

Yet, the ones I have are pretty dis-similar, by about a 1/2 inch...

Were these shorter on earlier cars? I know this is somewhat of an esoteric question. But this explains some issues I have had, as the left front wheel seemed to sit about a 1/2 inch further back from the right one... This part may explain it...?

It sounds like the A-arms were the same for the run of the 911, right? I am just trying to figure out what car they got these parts off of...

Thanks for the help!

Thats an interesting thought!!! That would explain the size difference...

Are the a-arms on the 914/911 the same?

A-arms fro 914 are different (914 part #) but same for 914-6 (911 part number).

Would it help if I measured the metal attaching strips on my car (78 SC)?
Will the one part you have fit both sides?
